Enabling employees to quickly and securely access data and facilities has always been a high priority. The growing number of data sources now available to police is making it more critical than ever that the right people have access to the information they need, and that this data can be assessed and monitored in a secure way.

Organisations around the world are facing more security threats to their business than ever before. Breaches of confidentiality, crippling cyber attacks and data theft by their own employees are just some of the issues that companies now have to contend with and plan for. These security threats can also necessitate taking a more tangible approach to security where controlling physical access to premises is high on the agenda for many companies.

Different agencies of the Indian government seem to be making all the wrong moves lately. Two issues have come to our notice and both are quite disturbing. These issues not only raise questions over how such national bodies discriminate against free software alternatives, but also reveal how they are forcing people to use non-free or proprietary software sold by big corporations.

Web 2.0 is growing with increasing momentum and businesses seem to be harnessing some of its benefits to bring them closer to their customers and improve overall brand experience. However Web 2.0 as a concept is quite vague and is becoming all encompassing.
